Accident Forgiveness

A common misconception is that accident forgiveness covers everything. First off, you need to make sure that you purchased the accident forgiveness coverage on your insurance policy in order to be eligible. If you have this coverage, your insurance company will forgive you for your first at fault car accident. Keep in mind that if serious or criminal charges are filed, accident forgiveness may not apply. Also, if you decide to switch insurance companies the accident forgiveness may not follow you – you might see an insurance rate increase when you switch companies, if you have an at fault accident on your record.

If you’ve seen a rate increase due to an accident you might be paying too much. Take a few minutes now to shop your rate and see if you can save on your auto insurance.
