Flood Damage

Myth: Flood damage is covered by my home insurance policy.

A flood in your home is defined as water flowing overland and seeping in through windows, doors and cracks. Unfortunately, home flood insurance coverage does not exist in Canada. However, you may purchase water and sewer back-up coverage, which usually costs approximately $50 extra per year to add on your policy. If you’ve experienced flood damage, there may a government assistance program to provide financial aid.

To find the right plan for you and your family, be sure to shop around for home insurance to find the best rate available.
